RAMON VARGAS – Festival Ljubljana

On Valentine’s Day… Agudin’s debut at prestigious Festival Ljubljana –  stunning success with star-tenor Ramon Vargas, great Slovenian soprano Elvira Hasanagic and the brilliant RTV Slovenian Symphony Orchestra.

Berlioz : Agudin coaxes a great performance

The Herald : “Romeo & Juliet lasts 95 minutes. There’s nothing like it in the repertoire: Berlioz was a true visionary, with no antecedent and no followers. He asks for 250 performers, including 3 choirs, and his orchestration is ample and innovative. His aural imagination is limitless and the intensity of his expression has no rivals in French music. Agudin got a notable performance out of a concentrated National Symphony, with close respect for every indication in the score. Contained, clean and precise.”  P.Bardin, The Herald. July 2016

BERLIOZ : ROMEO ET JULIETTE

« Born in Buenos Aires but based in Switzerland for almost 20 years, Facundo has revealed himself, over the course of his productions, as a serious, solid maestro. With this brilliant rendering of Roméo et Juliette, in command of three choruses, large symphonic forces and three major soloists, his work proves highly efficient. Agudin’s style is clear and precise in deploying Berlioz’ orchestral canvas, elegantly playing with his unique melodic language. The maestro seems to naturally master the chiaroscuro : he possesses a flexible control of the dynamics, managing a remarquable balance of sound layers. »

buenos aires’ new concert hall

The “Blue Whale” : brand new concert hall in downtown Buenos Aires opened last year to the greatest public acclaim. The venue is integrated in the CCK, largest Cultural Centre in South America, home to the National Symphony Orchestra and Chorus. Its exceptional acoustics, designed by Gustavo Basso, match the highest international standards. Facundo closed the 2015 season with Britten’s War Requiem, and this year he will perform Berlioz’s masterpiece, Romeo et Juliette.

world premiere : ROMULUS DER GROSSE

Together with composer Andreas Pflüger and dramaturg Wolfgang Willaschek, Facundo launched a challenging project : the new opera Romulus der Grosse, based on Friedrich Dürrenmatt’s iconic comedy from 1948. Its world premiere took place at Théâtre du Passage Neuchâtel in December 2015 in a semi-staged production directed by Barbora Horakova, coming to Basel’s Ackermannshof in April 2016 ! (see agenda).
A true crossroads between tradition and innovation, Romulus gathers a great cast, including Alejandro Meerapfel, Anna Wall, Elise Caluwaerts, Rubén Amoretti, Violetta Radomirska and many other singers and actors. The Pro Helvetia Foundation, the Charlotte Kerr-Dürrenmatt Foundation, and the Centre Dürrenmatt Neuchâtel framed this world premiere.
And soon a full production will come to light in Madrid !
